Centralia City Schools is seeking an individual for the full-time position of Special Education Supervisor.
Job Goal: To evaluate, recommend and maintain programs essential to the needs of students with disabilities.
The Special Education Supervisor coordinates special education programs and services for students with disabilities; supports special education through a thorough knowledge of the identification procedures, service delivery models, and continuum of service, and ensures the management of the organization, operations, and resources for a safe, efficient, effective least restrictive learning environment for students with disabilities. Must be able to manage confidential information, complete multi-stepped tasks within stringent timelines, work independently, and have strong organizational skills.
Qualifications: Master's Degree in Special Education; Certificate for supervising Special Education classes in Illinois; preference will be given to those holding a Special Education Director's License, but is not required.
Knowledge of:
- Federal and State statutes as it pertains to the education of students with disabilities
- Child find responsibilities and Evaluation procedures
- General requirements for writing an Individualized Education Program
- Eligibility criteria for students with disabilities
- Disciplinary actions including Manifestation Determination Reviews and Due Process
- Special Education administrative requirements and procedural safeguards, and policies and procedures
Duties and Responsibilities (may not include all duties performed):
- Work collaboratively with administrators, teachers, related service and support staff
- Support special education students through a thorough knowledge of service delivery models and assistive technology for students with disabilities
- Support other department staff as needed
- Other duties as assigned by Superintendent
Conditions of Employment: The position will be a multi-year contract that is regionally competitive and based on professional experience.
